For 10 years, CHIRPA (Pediatric Surgery in Africa) has helped Congolese pediatricians save children suffering from cardiac or urological malformations.
For a hundred lucky children, this was done through surgical operations abroad with the help of the Chain of Hope-Belgium.
123 children were able to benefit from palliative or restorative surgery in Congo even by international missions working in collaboration with Congolese doctors.
The objective is that these operations are now carried out locally by Congolese doctors; this is why the other components of CHIRPA's action concern the transfer of skills between the members of the Belgian team and the members of the Congolese team and support for a new pediatric surgery and pediatric palliative care ward. the Ngaliema Clinic in Kinshasa, funded by the Congolese Government and the First Lady.
